Common Questions, Answered
Do you offer internships, work experience, work placements or volunteering opportunities?
Unfortunately, we don't offer these opportunities now. Should an opportunity arise, it will be advertised on our career page (hyperlink job listings); you can set up alerts on our recruitment system, via the connect button, if you’d like to be notified about these types of vacancies.
I’d like to work for you, but I don’t have the right to work in the country where the job is based. Will you sponsor me?
We do not sponsor working visas for external recruitment, so you must have the right to work in the location the vacancy has been advertised in.
I am an EU citizen living in Portugal, why did I get rejected for a remote working role in Germany?
Employment laws are regulated at the national level, not by the EU. These laws govern everything from minimum wage and working hours to social security and termination rules.
Tax Residency Rules
Each EU country has its own rules about how many days you can spend working there before becoming a tax resident. If you exceed this limit, you and your employer may face additional tax liabilities.
What’s the difference between working from home and fully remote working?
Working from home typically means you perform your job from a fixed location, such as your residence. However, fully remote work allows for flexibility to work from any location, even another country. Despite this apparent freedom, most European countries have specific rules about where you can work.
Many European countries restrict remote workers to a single place of work due to tax laws, social security obligations, and employment regulations. Each EU member state has its own laws regarding where employees should pay taxes and contribute to social security. When employees work from another country, even within the EU, this can create complexities for both the employer and the employee.
What language can I apply in?

About Gold Standard
Gold Standard is a not-for-profit organization that helps companies understand the role they should play in creating a net-zero, sustainable nature future and provides tangible ways for them to contribute. This includes investments in their value chains, carbon credits, and other mechanisms for high-integrity climate action that delivers real impact for people and nature.
The Gold Standard Foundation was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs as a best practice standard to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions under the UN’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) also delivered sustainable development benefits. Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
